Upon arrival at Dakar International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by our dedicated team and transferred to your luxurious hotel. Take some time to unwind and freshen up from your journey. In the evening, join us for an exquisite welcome dinner at one of Dakar’s top restaurants. Enjoy a selection of gourmet dishes, mingle with fellow travelers, and get an exciting briefing about the adventure that lies ahead.


Day 2: Discover Dakar - Goree Island, African Renaissance Monument
Begin your day with a delightful breakfast before departing for Goree Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the House of Slaves, museums, and historical landmarks, immersing yourself in the rich history of the island and the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Return to Dakar for a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the African Renaissance Monument, Africa's largest statue, and take in breathtaking views of the city from the monument’s summit. The evening is yours to relax and enjoy at your leisure, with various dining options available.


Day 3: Explore Dakar - Museum of Black Civilization, Pink Lake
After breakfast, head to the Museum of Black Civilization to marvel at its expansive collection of African art and artifacts that trace the history and culture of the continent. Lunch will be served at a local eatery before heading to the famous Pink Lake (Lake Retba). Enjoy a scenic tour of the lake, known for its distinct pink hue caused by high salt content, and partake in an optional salt harvest experience. Return to Dakar and spend your evening at leisure, perhaps taking a stroll along the Corniche waterfront or exploring local dining spots.


Day 4: Travel to The Gambia - Banjul City Tour
Start your day with an early breakfast before embarking on a scenic drive from Dakar to Banjul, The Gambia. Upon arrival, check into your luxurious hotel and enjoy lunch either at the hotel or a nearby restaurant. In the afternoon, embark on a city tour of Banjul, which includes visits to Arch 22 for panoramic views and the bustling Albert Market. Cap off the day with a delightful dinner at a local restaurant and unwind back at your hotel.


Day 5: Fathala Wildlife Reserve - Walk with Lions
Depart early in the morning for an unforgettable day at Fathala Wildlife Reserve. Enjoy an exhilarating safari experience, spotting diverse wildlife in their natural habitat, and for thrill-seekers, a once-in-a-lifetime walk with lions. A sumptuous lunch will be served at the reserve, allowing time to relax and take in the picturesque surroundings. Return to Banjul in the evening, where you can unwind and enjoy the local culinary delights.


Day 6: Cultural Day - Kunta Kinte Island (James Island)
After breakfast, set out on a day trip to Kunta Kinte Island (formerly James Island), journeying along the Gambia River to this significant historical site tied to the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Enjoy a serene riverside lunch and then visit Juffureh village, the ancestral homeland of Kunta Kinte, engaging with the local community and learning about their rich heritage. Return to Banjul in the evening for a relaxing night, with dining options to suit your preferences.


Day 7: Drive Back to Dakar, Senegal
Following a hearty breakfast, embark on the drive back to Dakar. Upon arrival, check into your luxurious hotel and enjoy a relaxing lunch. Spend the afternoon at your leisure—perfect for some last-minute shopping, lounging by the pool, or exploring more of Dakar. As the sun sets, join us for a memorable farewell dinner at a renowned restaurant, celebrating the incredible experiences and friendships forged during the journey.


Day 8: Departure from Dakar
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel before spending the morning on any last-minute activities or shopping. As midday approaches, you will be transferred to Dakar International Airport for your departure.

Payments:

 

Guests will book with a low deposit and then make subsequent installment payments until the trip is paid in full. You may also choose to pay in full at the time of booking. Timely installment payments are required. Two or more late payments will make your booking subject to automatic cancellation without refund. Consider enabling Auto-Pay so that you'll never miss a payment!

Due to the nature of our business, please understand that without our traveler's cooperation with on-time payments, we cannot continue to offer experiences like our Group Getaways. Please help us by only committing to this trip once you have read and understood our booking Terms & Conditions.

Important Travel Information:

  • Flights to/from Senegal are not included. All travelers are responsible for booking their own flights. We can assist with this, just let us know. Flights must be booked by September 1, 2025. Arrival should be by 4pm to ensure you're included in our welcome events. DSS is the airport code for Blaise Diagne International Airport in Dakar, Senegal.

  • We only travel in small groups of no more than 20 individuals. 

  • Travelers will receive their final travel instructions 15 days prior to departure.

  • A valid passport with 6 months validity from the departure date and at least one blank page is required for travel.

  • A Visa is required for entry into The Gambia.

    • The Government of The Gambia requires visitors to obtain a visa prior to or upon entering the country. The fee for a Gambian visa issued through the Gambian Embassy in the United States is currently $200 but is subject to change. Alternatively, tourists can apply for a visa upon arrival in The Gambia. Tourists are typically granted a 30-day stay in The Gambia upon arrival. The fee for this visa on arrival is currently $108 but is subject to change. You must have at least one blank page in your passport for the stamp.​

  • Refunds will not be provided for cancellations due to passport, visa or required vaccine issues.

  • By booking this trip, all guests in your party are subject to our current Terms & Conditions. Terms are subject to change without notice.

  • Travel Insurance is strongly encouraged. Guests may purchase their own or our team can assist you with quotes.

Cancellation policy:

1-10 DAYS AFTER DEPOSIT (121+ days prior to trip departure): booking is fully refundable to the original form of payment.

11+ DAYS AFTER DEPOSIT or IF DEPOSIT IS MADE 120 DAYS OR LESS PRIOR TO TRAVEL: BOOKINGS BECOME 100% NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.

Oheneba Events & Travel is not responsible for penalties or fees associated with cancelled bookings for any reason. We strongly encourage our travelers to buy Travel Insurance to protect your travel investment. We are happy to provide travel insurance quotes. All travelers must acknowledge FULL understanding of this policy when booking this trip. Any attempted charge disputes/chargebacks will automatically disqualify you from doing business with Oheneba Events & Travel LLC in the future. 

If Oheneba Events & Travel is compelled to cancel this trip for any reason, all booked travelers will receive a full refund in the form of Future Travel Credit for another Group Getaway.
